European Circular Economy in Construction Awards

The European Demolition Association (EDA) proudly presents the European Circular Economy Awards in construction, an initiative designed to recognize and promote innovation in demolition, decontamination, and recycling. This prestigious award aims to highlight the pivotal role these activities play in advancing the circular economy in the construction sector, while also encouraging the next generation of professionals. The awards are open to students enrolled in Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD programs from educational institutions across Europe.

Award Goals

  • Promote Innovation: Give visibility to new projects that push the boundaries of demolition, decontamination, and recycling.
  • Attract New Talent: Make the sector appealing to students and young professionals by showcasing its importance in a circular economy.
  • Foster Exchange of Ideas: Encourage the sharing of ideas and best practices across the industry and educational institutions.
  • Highlight DDR Activities: Emphasize the significance of Demolition, Decontamination, and Recycling (DDR) activities in creating a sustainable, circular economy in construction.

Who Can Participate?

The awards are open to students enrolled in Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or other educational programs in any European institution. Participants must submit projects related to demolition, decontamination, recycling, or a combination of these areas. These projects can be:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s theses
  • Final course projects
  • Similar academic works

Submission Requirements

The selection process for the European Circular Economy Awards is conducted in two phases.

  • Phase 1: National Level
    Each National Association will organize a national competition to select the three best projects (one winner and two finalists). The selection criteria may vary per country. The projects may be written in the national language.
  • Phase 2: European Level
    The projects selected at the national level are evaluated by an international jury composed of representatives from various institutions. The jury’s final decision is announced prior to the EDA Annual Convention.
