EC Circular Economy Principles for Buildings’ Design

The European Commission -DG GROW- has worked closely with several European stakeholdersit to present the document Circular Economy Principles for Buildings’ Degisng.
This document gathers all the points of view of the stakeholders involved in the construction sector, from its initial conception to the end of its useful life, in order to apply the principles of circular economy and resource efficiency.

Building materials used between 1950-1980 may contribute to PCB air pollution

A new study suggests that European buildings built in the 1950s, 60s and 70s may contribute towards levels of toxins in the body. Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were found at elevated levels in children that lived in houses and studied in schools built during this period, before PCBs were more thoroughly regulated in the construction industry.
