Resounding success of the World Demolition Summit

Almost 300 delegates attended the World Demolition Summit in Amsterdam, the Netherlands – the seventh event since it was launched in 2009.

Organised by Demolition & Recycling International magazine in partnership with the European Demolition Association, EDA, the summit featured speakers from companies in the USA, Australia, India, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Some of the speakers of the conference were Mr. Clinton Dick, Director of LIBERTY INDUSTRIAL, company member of EDA, Mr. John Woodward, CONSULTANT FOR C&D CONSULTANCY, Mr. David Sinclair, who spent his career with SAFEDEM, company member of EDA too, among others.

The summit was followed by the World Demolition Awards, where demolition specialists COLEMAN & CO and ERITH CONTRACTORS were among the big winners at the 2015 Demolition Awards, with Coleman involved in four winning categories and Erith coming out on top in two.

Coleman won the Safety & Training Award, the Large Contract of the Year award and its partnership with JCB in the Plant and Equipment Innovation award also came out on top.

To cap a fantastic night for the UK company it also won the coveted World Demolition Award, which the judges can choose to give to the single most impressive entry from the entire awards.

Erith was honoured in the Small Contract of the Year category and in the Urban Demolition Award.

Other winners included PROTANZE (New Zealand), KELTBRAY (UK), DDM DEMONTAGE (The Netherlands), member of EDA, DESPE (Italy),, member od EDA too, AR Demolition (UK) MANTOVANIBENNE S.r.l (Italy), another member of EDA beetwen the winners.

The night also saw Mr. David Sinclair, honorary vice president of EDA present outgoing D&Ri editor Mr. Lindsay Gale, who left the magazine after the event, with a plate in EDA’s recognition of his work in the demolition sector.

Next year’s World Demolition Summit will take place in Miami, USA on Friday October 14, in partnership with the National Demolition Association, with the EDA as a supporting organisation.

EDA will again be the main partner in 2017 when the event returns to Europe.
