
What happens when a building comes down? Increasingly, the answer is not simply “waste”. Demolition can also be the starting point for recovering materials, reducing transport and disposal costs, and keeping resources in use.
The company, MB CRUSHER, which is an EDA member, looks at how demolition and crushing equipment can support this approach, turning concrete and other materials into resources that can be reused directly on site.
The company highlights the combination of demolition pulverizers, crusher buckets and screening buckets. Together, these tools allow contractors to dismantle structures selectively, separate materials and process demolition waste without necessarily sending it away from the jobsite.
Two projects show how this works in practice. In Germany, Thomas Hugo Baggerarbeiten used an MB-P380 demolition pulverizer to remove part of a double garage while protecting the adjoining structure. The equipment allowed the concrete to be demolished with minimal vibration while separating the reinforcing steel. See the video.
In Poland, MBKOP used an MB CRUSHER BF80.3 crusher bucket to process demolition debris directly on site. The recycled material was then used for applications such as backfilling, sub-bases and ground stabilisation. See the video.
For MB CRUSHER, this is what green demolition increasingly means: recovering materials where they already are, reducing truck movements and disposal, and limiting the need for newly quarried aggregates.
