The European circular economy landscape continues to expand, with a new set of funding opportunities supporting innovation, resource efficiency and the transition towards more sustainable production and construction models and several calls published in September 2026 target areas that are particularly relevant to the built environment.

Key deadlines for circular economy funding opportunities

  • 17 September 2026 – Horizon Europe: critical raw materials recovery from WEEE, recyclable food packaging and textile recycling.
  • 22 September 2026LIFE 2026: Circular Economy and Zero Pollution.
  • 22 September 2026 – Raw Materials Partnership: circularity across the raw materials value chain.
  • 22 September 2026 – Circular Bio-based Europe: circular bio-based industries.
  • 8 October 2026Horizon Europe: circular economy models in construction, from buildings to city scale.
  • 5 November 2026 – RI.CIRCO.LO.: circular initiatives for SMEs in Lombardy.
  • 1 December 2026 – Horizon Europe: maintenance and repair measures for existing buildings.

Particularly relevant for the demolition and construction sector: the 8 October 2026 deadline for circular economy models in construction, which directly addresses the transition towards circularity at building, district and city scale.
