Case story: Demolition of the Earls Court Exhibition Centres

EDA_KELTBRAY_case_story

This is the title of the case story that will be presentd by Mr. Dave Rowe and Mr. Jim O’Sullivan, of the company Keltbray, during the conference session of the EDA 2016 Annual Convention.

The project of the case story involves the demolition of Earls Court 1 (50,000m2, constructed in 1937) and Earls Court 2 (20,000m2 constructed in late 80s/early 90s), two exhibition centres that are located in London, in a densely populated residential area next to the Metropolitan Police headquarters and crossing two local authority boundaries.

Besides the technical complexity, it was necessary to agree process and achieve approval of demolition methodology and temporary works design from by Network Rail and London Underground Limited (LUL).

Due to the complexity of the environment, the structure and the political sensitivity surrounding the project, the Client appointed Keltbray to undertake a Pre-demolition Services Agreement to develop the methodology, programme, costing, design principles and approvals required to undertake the demolition.
