As part of the process to develop a more ambitious circular economy package, the European Commission organized a stakeholder Conference about this topic in Brussels on 25 June 2015

The conference was a public consultation that collected the views of stakeholders on the main policy options and measures explored for this initiative.

The conference had an opening plenary, a series of break-out sessions about specific aspects of the circular economy, and a closing panel with institutional representatives.

The circular economy is the re-using, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products.

What used to be regarded as ‘waste’ can be turned into a resource, so the aim is to look beyond waste and to close the loop of the circular economy.

All resources need to be managed more efficiently throughout their life cycle.

In addition, to use resources more efficiently will also bring new growth and job opportunities, the savings for EU businesses of up to EUR 600 billion and the reduction of the total annual greenhouse gas emissions.
