The Technical Operations Manager of SAFEDEM, Mr. Barry Ward, will make a presentation about this topic concentrating on the NFDC guidance.

Mr. Barry Ward is qualified to Chartered Engineer, Member of The Institute of Civil Engineers & Associate Member of The Institute of Structural Engineers.
His presentation will concentrate on the NFDC guidance on the deconstruction of tower blocks and will consider why the guidance was written, what it means to the demolition contractor, changes in methods, legislation etc…
The presentation will contain examples of works in line with this guidance including specific reasons as to why updated guidance is key to the industry as many factors affecting demolition evolve and change.
Mr. Ward was a practicing Chartered Structural Engineer designing building structures for over 20 years and for the last 6 years of that was Technical Director in a firm of Consulting Civil & Structural Engineers.
Then, he moved across to demolition and joined SAFEDEM where he took up the position of Technical Operations Manager looking after the technical operations of the company.
Mr. Ward looks at demolition thru the eyes of both a demolition contractor and a building designer which gives him a unique insight into the most appropriate methods for deconstructing varying types of buildings.
