Developing C&DW recycling in Europe, how to get there?
28/02/2014
In 2008 the revised Waste Framework Directive was issued, containing a recycling target for C&DW of 70%.
Despite several studies perfomed by the European Commission, and despite new initiatives such as the Roadmap to a Resource Efficient Europe, recycling of C&DW has hardly grown over the last years.
A minor set of member states manages to realise high recycling percentages, the majority of member states are still to develop serious recycling.
The challenge is to demonstrate this succesfull approach also in other areas in Europe.
Focusing on the topic, the Fédération Internationale du Recyclage (FIR) with the Secretary General, Geert Cuperus, as speaker, will be present in a conference at the Deconstruction Forum.
Geert Cuperus was educated as chemical engineer. After some years in the process industry he got involved in waste management. Since more that 12 years he has been working as Secretary General for FIR.
FIR represents the recycling industry of C&DW and of Incinerator Bottom Ash. Geert discusses with the European institutes and other stakeholders the development of recycling of C&DW.
The Deconstruction Forum will be held in Madrid (Spain) on June 12th to 14th, 2014.
