EDA Board Member Marcel Schröder has passed away
20/05/2014
The European Demolition Association, EDA, deeply regrets to announce the death of our Board member Dipl.-Ing. Marcel Schröder, who suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on 15 May 2014, at the age of 43.
In addition to his successful career as Technical Director at Richard Liesegang GmbH & Co. KG in Hürth, Marcel Schröder performed a number of voluntary roles for the German Demolition Association (DEUSTCHER ABBRUCHWERBAND, DA).
Since 2010, Marcel Schröder had served as the DA and EDA Board member responsible for training and professional development, European affairs and the Association’s finances. He was also an active member of the Blasting Technology Working Group, lead author of the forthcoming new edition of the DA’s technical publication “Abbrucharbeiten” (Demolition Work).
As member of the Board of Directors of the European Demolition Association (EDA), he was appointed on the 2013 General Assembly as Vice President of EDA International Committee, being actively involved on the activities of the industry at international level.
Marcel Schröder was an outstanding individual, father of two young adults (Nele,15, and Yannick, 17), distinguished by his sound technical knowledge of all matters relating to demolition technology, his determination to ensure that every task he undertook was brought to a successful conclusion and his willingness to keep exploring new avenues with the DA and EDA.
His open manner and engaging personality enabled him to motivate and win the support of colleagues both inside and outside of the industry for the goals and projects that he believed to be appropriate and important.
Thanks to his exceptional commitment during his time as a Board member at the German Demolition Association and the European Demolition Associations, Marcel Schröder was able to make a number of important contributions, the impact of which will continue to be felt in the future.
This highly valued colleague was taken from us long before his time. He will be remembered with the utmost gratitude for all that he did for us.
EDA would like to extend our deepest sympathy to his family.
