EDA joins CEN/TC 151

  • The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has approved EDA’s application to become a member of the CEN/TC 151.  

The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) has approved the European Demolition Association (EDA) participation on the CEN/TC 151 ‘Construction equipment and building material machines – Safety’ as Liaison Partner.

This Technical Committee works in the standardization in the field of safety of machines and equipment used on construction sites, for winter service and highway maintenance as well as for the production and processing of mineral building materials.

The CEN/TC 151 is divided in multiples subcommittees: WG1 – Earth-moving machinery – Safety; WG11 – Machines and plants for mining and tooling of natural stone – Safety; G13 – Machines and plants for the production, treatment and processing of flat glass – Safety; WG15 – Electromagnetic compatibility; WG16 – Road operation machinery – Safety requirements; WG18 – Machines and plants for the production, treatment and processing of hollow and special glass – Safety; WG3 – Drilling and foundation equipment; WG4 – Tunnel boring machines (TBM) and associated machines and equipment – Safety; WG5 – Road construction machines – Safety; WG6 – Machines and equipment to process building materials (portable, hand-guided, support-mounted, on rails or self-propelled) – Safety; WG8 – Concrete preparation and handling equipment – Safety; and WG9 – Machines and plants for the production of cement, lime, and gypsum, including crushing, screening, sizing and recycling – Safety.

The European Committee for Standardization is an association that brings together the National Standardization Bodies of 34 European countries. And it’s one of three European Standardization Organizations (together with CENELEC and ETSI) that have been officially recognized by the European Union and by the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) as being responsible for developing and defining voluntary standards at European level.
