International Women’s Day 2025
6/03/2025
This March 8th, EDA will be celebrating International Women’s Day 2025 with our special initiative: Women’s Voices in the demolition industry.
Throughout the centuries, women had a particular difficulty accessing certain industries. The demolition industry was no exception. Time and time again, women had to fight just to be present in the workforce; and then, to have conditions equal to their male counterparts.
Although the situation has become better in recent years, the struggle is not over. To this day, women are still underrepresented in the demolition industry. When it is time to share knowledge and experience in the sector, their voices are still often being silenced and ignored; and we are fighting to change that.
Therefore today, more than ever, the European Demolition Association, EDA, wants to focus on women’s points of view within the demolition industry. Our associates took their time to narrate their unique experiences in the sector.
Some of their testimonials:
“I hope it continues to be a very lovely experience and that we women continue to empower ourselves in entire field of this beautiful process that is mining”
– Nicole Cruz, Preventionist at FLESAN
“It’s a field that has been traditionally male-dominated, but I’ve learned that bringing diverse perspectives to the table is what drives innovation and success”
– Xenia Kolijin, General Manager at KOBELCO
“Today I see the impacts of my work in the real world.”
– Miriam Arriola, Manufacturing Engineer at CATERPILLAR
…and more!
Just today is not enough
However, we don’t want our actions to end today. Therefore, if you are a woman in the demolition industry, we encourage you to send us a video talking about your experience. Let your voice be heard!
This March 8th, we wish you a Happy International Women’s Day 2025. Today, and every day after that, let’s make the industry a better, more equal and accessible place together!
