Mr. Liam Hogan Obituary

Mr. Liam Hogan, Late Managing Director of Hegarty Demolition, member of EDA, passed away on 13th October.

On behalf of all at European Demolition Association, we extend our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends, and colleagues.

Mr. Liam started as Engineer/Site Manager with Sean Hegarty Earthworks in 1973 and managed many prestigious contracts over the following years. Mr. Liam was appointed Director in 1982, the start of a decade of a series of recessions in the Construction Industry, where survival in business was never assured. He played an extremely important role in the economic management of a number of vital contracts during this period.

Demolition became a greater part of his activities, and again, Mr. Liam was to the forefront in promoting this important part of the workload, leading to the setting up of Hegarty Demolition Ltd. in 1990. In the following decades, the company experienced a huge increase in Urban Development with Hegarty Demolition Ltd., under Mr. Liam’s leadership.

During the recession commencing in 2008, Mr. Liam, as Managing Director, met this challenge and brought the company through this long uncertain period to emerge intact, a testament to his courage and tenacity.
