New EDA think tank: Equipment for demolition

For many years EDA used to have two annual events.

The first one was the Spring conference with a social program, now called the Annual Convention, and the second one was the Fall conference, much more technical and shorter.

10 years ago, it was decided to stop the second conference, to make room for the World Demolition Summit.

Still, the EDA leadership felt like the industry needed a time and a meeting to have open debates about general themes that are directly related to the industry.

With this idea in mind, EDA created a think tank about demolition and everything related with it, to be held every other year.

The think tank is a morning meeting, free of charge for all participants, in which professionals from different sectors and backgrounds get together to speak and share insights about the current situation and future developments.

The EDA think tank is usually held in Brussels, the same day or just after, the meeting of the EDA Board of Directors, to foster the participation of delegates from all countries.

The first edition was in 2014, under the title “Recycling and end-of-life of construction products”, organized by EDA in partnership with Construction Products Europe (the European Association of Manufacturers of Construction materials).

The second edition was in 2016, with the topic “The next 10 years”, also organized by EDA in partnership with the European Decontamination Institute, with the presence of several panelists from European Associations and Institutions.

And the third edition is coming up, this year 2018, to be focused on the theme “Equipment for demolition”.

As done in previous years, the think tank will have two debate sessions, one more oriented to demolition carriers and another about demolition attachments.

In 2018, the strategic partner of this workshop and open debate is the Committee for European Construction Equipment, CECE

There are lots of questions for the debate, which are already posted on the EDA website.
