NFDC celebrates its 80th anniversary

  • The NFDC received a birthday letter from the President of EDA, Mr. Francisco Cobo
  • The 80th anniversary was celebrated on October 22 in London

The National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) has reached 80 years working on the sector. To celebrate this special date, this ‘octogenarian’ assotiation had a crowded event at The Royal Lancaster, London, on October, 22. As congratulation, the EDA President Mr. Francisco Cobo sent a congratulatory letter to the NFDC President Mr. William Crooks. “After these challenging times, we are now more tan ever aware of how important it is to celebrate the good news”, he wrote.

The history of this assotiation started in very different conditions compared to nowadays: it was the year 1947 and the UK was almost in ruins, filled with smoke and dust. The II World War destroyed houses and buildings, so the expertise of demolition contractors was a genuine need. A group of demolition professionals was brought together at the request of Winston Churchill, forming the basis of the NFDC.

It was a very different context comparing to now. However, the present has its own challenges, as climate change and a post-pandemic economy. Thus, the NFDC and EDA are working together on strengthen their already close relationship and to empower the demolition sector.
