The company from Baden-Baden, pioneer with regard to hydraulic and fully hydraulic quick-change systems in Germany, presented the Variolock during the trade fair.
The Variolock quickcoupler are available for excavators from two to 130 tons.Just in time for this year’s BAUMA, three of the Variolock systems are introduced to the market which further facilitate the change of attachments when working with hydraulic excavators thanks to new features.
Additionally, one can purchase the convenient assistance system Lehmatic Safety Control which makes the change of attachments even safer.
Variolock Next Generation
The fully hydraulic quickcoupler systems Variolock by LEHNHOFF have been proven a thousand times and are used daily at numerous building sites all over Germany and around the world.
Now, the next generation of Variolock for the excavator class 12 to 40 tons is entering the market: the models VL100-2, VL210-2, and VL250-2 have been improved noticeably.
A new hydraulic jack ensures that the valve blocks remain stable and that the valves remain tight.
As known from the past Variolock models, the new quickcouplesr systems, too, feature the unique internal block depressurisation unit which makes the change of attachments so effortless: all relevant valves are integrated in the quickcoupler valve block and thus can be directly depressurized.
This function, which is only available at LEHNHOFF , protects and reduces the wear of the valves and saves a lot of installation effort.

Naturally all new Variolock models VL100-2, VL210-2, and VL250-2 are compatible to the attachments used before – the relevant adapter measures have not been changed at LEHNHOFF for more than 25 years now and thus, ensure that previously used attachments can remain in service.
Furthermore, the models have facilitated, standardized interfaces for hydraulically connecting them to the excavators and come pre-piped with SAE block flanges.
Also new: the valve block protection is now positively locked and ensures an even better shielding of the valve blocks. The suspension was also revised: the Variolock now comes with standardized bolts to guarantee an optimum fit.

Lehmatic Safety Control
For increased safety when working with quick-change systems, LEHNHOFF developed the assistance system Lehmatic Safety Control (LSC), available for all quickcoupler systems and excavators of 0.5 to 130 tons operating weight.
With Lehmatic Safety Control, changing attachments of a hydraulic excavator becomes even easier and safer.
It is a high-quality assistance system controlling the locking procedure of the hydraulic quickcoupler in real time.
It offers a maximum of flexibility and comfort – and furthermore, Lehmatic Safety Control prevents any unintentional coupling or unwanted release of the attachment.
The operator is optically and acoustically informed about the locking status of the quickcoupler at all times.
Lehmatic Safety Control consists of several sensors which continously monitor the correct position of the quickcoupler as well as the correct position of the locking pin. The display and operation unit is clearly arranged in the cab.

To let go or pick up an attachment, two buttons need to be activated. Afterwards, the attachment is coupled up as usual and the locking button needs to be pressed. In case of improper coupling or faulty locking, an audible alarm is set off and a warning triangle is lighting up until the quickcoupler is correctly and savely connected to the attachment.
In case of a correct and complete locking, the according symbols light up green on the display. In addition to that, the sensors of the LSC also monitor the wear of the adapter and the quickcoupler – and report if the quickcoupler or the adapter need to be checked or possibly regenerated. With regard to daily use, the Lehmatic Safety Control excels thanks to the intuitive traffic light system.
With this innovation right on time for this year’s BAUMA, LEHNHOFF confirms its image as specialist for quick-change systems and technology supplier for assistance systems increasing occupational safety.
