Petri Hynninen and the Finnish Demolition
12/06/2012
With other Finnish colleagues, Hynninen is taking steps to set up the first Demolition Association on their country.
We take this opportunity to ask him some questions and get to know him and Finnish demolition industry better.
Petri starts his first demolition object in 1992, at Outokumpu city, when an old copper mine closed their facilities. His skills were most of all about metal then. In 2002 he established the Company POH JOLAN PUR KUTY Ö OY wich made all types of demolition.
Then in 2008, Hynninen set up DEAL IN , a consulting company, and later RA KENNUS PALVELU PPJ OY , specialized in demolition.
Member of SAP (Finnish asbestos and dust remove Association), Hynninen has expertise in the waste field, with his other company REMATERIA OY 2010, with now two shorting stations.
How would you describe demolition industry in Finland these days?
Demolition in Finland is going to face big changes. In the future, I see a few of big companies and a lot of local and small ones, as “one man and a Hilti 765”.
The sector is getting more professional, with the government controlling more the “grey markets” only the best companies will stay alive.
How is specialized Finnish demolition?
Traditionally in Finland we don’t have many specific demolition skills like blasting, since the profile of the buildings is quite low, but we have started using ITC programs for waste management in our demolition sites.
Recently you had a meeting to start-up a Finnish demolition association. What can you tell us about this?
A few Finnish demolition companies are interested in setting up a Finnish association, and joining the EDA .
That is why in May 2012 we had this meeting, where EDA representatives were there to help us, since we want to develop the Finnish demolition sector, with the support and cooperation of the EDA .
What do you expect of EDA Convention?
Several Finnish companies will participate at EDA 2012 Convention; we look forward this gathering to have a nice time together and listen to useful discussions with global demolition family/partners.
