Presentation of EU C&D Waste Management Protocol in Madrid

Last 7th of November, in the capital city of Spain, the European Commission, EC, presented the new Protocol for management of construction and demolition waste in the EU, where the Spanish Association of demolition, decontamination, cutting and drilling, AEDED,member of EDA, actively participated in the organization and diffusion of the activity.

The objective was to inspire the professionals related to take up this opportunity for sustainable growth of the Spanish construction & demolition waste sector.

In addition, the activitty was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge with stakeholders from the sector and share best practice and opportunities.

The conference sessions were opened by Paloma López Izquierdo, Deputy Director of waste, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, who welcomed all participants and stressed that this Spanish Ministry is always working in accordance with the European Commission.

After it, it was the turn of Mr. Gunther Wolff, Delegate of the DG Environment of the European Commission.

The European representative outlined the main aspects of the Protocol of the European Commission, focusing on the actions to be followed in the future for sustainable management of construction and demolition materials, such as a minimum value of 70 % in value in 2020 in all the countries of the Union, greater financial support in projects and an effective design of buildings.
