Construction Products Europe organised a workshop on sustainability assessments methodology that took place in Brussels on 4th March.

The workshop brought together a very diverse group of people, from construction products to engineers, architects and contractors representatives.

As part of the European Institution’s drive towards a circle economy, sustainability is one of their crucial goals. EU policy makers are looking for a consistent evaluation of the environmental impact of construction and the EC has therefore proposed the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF).

The organisers provided background information on both CEN TC 350 and Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) initiatives, explaining them with real examples of two PEF pilot projects: metal sheets and hot and cold water pipes.

Also, during the workshop a comparative picture of sustainable assesment methodologies was provided.
