Sustainable use of natural resources workshop

In 2012 the European Commission issued a Communication on the “Strategy for the sustainable competitiveness of the construction sector and its enterprises”, and its followed by an action plan with five key strategic objectives.
To develop this objectives, there are five thematic groups, which meet regularly. The last workshop held so far was the Thematic Group 3, focused on the “Sustainable use of natural resources”.
The workshop celebrated on April 8th was divided into two parts; “How to enable the creation of a suitable EU framework for building assessment of the environmental performance of buildings?” and “Valorisation of Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste”.
During the workshop, the presentations and debates approached several topics: the update of the framework, the new targets for recycling, the need to create markets for recycled prodcuts, the advantages of green builings,…
EDA was present on the workshop and was also invited by the European Commission to make a presentation, with the title “Drivers for/from DDD (Decontamination, Decommissioning and Demolition) – Building on good practices on demolition” .
