Overview of the accreditation schemes for demolition companies in the United Kingdom.

The National Federation of Demolition Contractors, NFDC, voice of the industry in this country, and one of the leading demolition association in the World, developed its own site audit scheme.

The NDFC site audit scheme is required for all the demolition contractors, members of the Federation, and is an extensive process going through all the activities on-site.

This audit, which is done by an external auditor (CHAS), allows to certify the expertise of the companies and to verify the work is done properly.

On top of this accreditation for the industry, there is another certification through the Construction Industry Training Board, CITB.

In the accreditation of construction companies in the United Kingdom, there are four different levels: accredited, bronze, silver and gold.

This is a route that a company may take in order to demonstrate their commitment to addressing unfair practices and inequalities within the sector.

In United Kingdom, before the accreditation there is another optional step, the pre-qualification, which is provided by the National Specialist Contractors Council, NSCC, in collaboration with Safety Schemes in Procurement, SSIP.
