The PARADE project presented the report “Pre-demolition audit Basic principles”

European Demolition Association, EDA, took part in the seminar in Brussels of the project PARADE: “Predemolition audit for circular economy”, on 19 November 2019.

The key activity in the project has been to develop supporting training material to enhance the knowledge of professionals in the sector, and especially to increase the quality of pre-demolition audits in Europe.

Furthermore, the seminar addressed future drivers and tools to support the use of pre-demolition audit for achieving circular economy targets in the demolition sector.

As a result of the educational materials tested during 2019, it was presented the final document of the “Pre-demolition audit Basic principles”.

A pre-demolition audit is an inventory of materials and components arising from future demolition or renovation projects and their management and recovery options.

This report contains all the available basic information about building on infrastructure, its owner, the auditor and the contractor, the presence of hazardous substances; the potential waste materials, the summary of all reusable components and a photo documentation of the buildings.

The “Pre-demolition audit Basic principles” has received funding from European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European union, under the Horizon 2020.

About PARADE project

The overall aim of the PARADE project (2018-19) is to improve the management of construction and demolition waste (safe recycling), preventing unnecessary waste, maximizing value and sustainable use.

The European Demolition Association has collaborated closely on the project as a member of the Reference Group.

The project is a continuation of the DG GROW study on waste auditing, in which VTT was involved.

The project also makes benefit from the procedures of the Flemish C&DW management organization Tracimat, which is founded by the Flemish Construction Federation (VCB) and developed in close collaboration with VITO.

PARADE project is coordinated by VTT Ltd, Finland and involves following partners: VITO (Belgium), VCB (Belgium), KU Leuven (Belgium) and TU Kosice (Slovakia).
