Recycling concrete
29/09/2014
“The Concrete Initiative” organizes a thematic launch, which is called “Recycling concrete construction & demolition waste” and is held in Brussels (Belgium) on October 27th, 2014.
On 2 July 2014, the European Commission adopted its Circular Economy package, which includes a Communication on Resource Efficiency Opportunities in the Building Sector.
One of the key areas within this communication is the recycling of construction and demolition waste (C&DW).
At the end of its useful life, concrete can be 100% recycled, into various applications, but in Europe today, only around 30% of concrete is actually recycled.
This figure varying greatly from one Member State to another: in the best performing countries almost 100% of all concrete is recycled at the end of its useful life.
