This is demolition

After the DDR Forum & Expo 2017, held in Brussels in June, we are proud to say that demolition has been brought to attention.

This event, where we had the opportunity of welcoming the delegates in the opening ceremony with our colleague Scott Knightly, the president of National Demolition Association in US, was an exceptional initiative.

The EDA gathered several related trades from around the demolition industry, which highlighted the current importance of our profession, especially in the Circular Economy.

This first event was the proof that demolition cannot work in isolation and proving that all professionals involved need to work together.

For this reason, we would like to thank the EDA Members, Delegates of National Associations, Federations, Institutional Partners and all related stakeholders for their participation, not forgetting the exhibitors, who made the event possible.

In addition, we especially thank the European Commission for its participation as Institutional Partner of the event and as speakers, something which is very important for the EDA that strengthens the close relationship between the Association with this Institution.

We do believe this has been the first stepping stone for future events concerning the Circular Economy.

As another example of this connection with the European Commission, EDA has been invited to participate in the “Construction Conference: Let’s build changes!”, a meeting organized by the DG GROWTH where all decision makers of the sector are involved.

Focusing on other activities that emphasize the importance of the demolition industry was the fantastic DEMO EXPO 2017, held in June, and organized by the National Federation of Demolition Contractors, NFDC, and the Institute of Demolition Engineers, IDE.

This show was the largest ever organized, further proof that the demolition industry is in good health, with high participation of supplier companies showcasing machines and equipment.

Indeed, the NFDC does not stop, and in August will celebrate its Annual Convention, in Malta, in order to continue with the work has been done in the last years and design the road map for the future.

To finalize, and returning to the EDA, along with activities and events, the recent publication of the European Demolition Industry Report 2017 also reinforces the industry.

This document is the third edition, and it contains detailed information about the trends of the demolition industry in 2015-2016, forecasts and specific information about European companies, volume of business and evolution of the demolition activities, among others.

We would like to take the opportunity and encourage all related professionals to visit the EDA website and access this publication.

We may have forgotten to mention other activities, events and milestones that improve the image of the demolition industry, but the message we wish to convey is that our industry is in good health, and that we must continue to work together and feel proud to say: This is demolition!
