Selection Criteria
When choosing a quick coupler there are various points that should be taken into account to choose the one that best suits our requirements and, therefore, allows us to obtain the maximum benefit from our carriers and attachments as a set.
In this respect, it is necessary to consider the following aspects, both of the quick coupler and the characteristics of the machine and the work in which it is to be used:
- Compatibility with excavator size and the possibility of adapting the quick coupler to several machines sizes
- Type (Pin to Pin; Dedicated)
- Frequency of change
- Locking mechanism (Mechanical; Hydraulic; Full automatic)
- Building height of the coupler, as it may affect the break out force
- Temperature of the jobsite (particularly important in cold areas)
- Working environment
- Range of existing attachments in house for eventually re-work of adaption
- Tool available
- Safe (locking system certified, easily seen and checked from the cab)
- Strong and durable
- Maintenance requirements
- Total cost of ownership
Below there is a table which includes the details that should be taken into account for each of the above aspects. However, it must be noted that all the exposed points should always be in accordance with local regulations.
