Off-site recycling equipment

On off-site recycling, most of the recycling jobs will be carried out in treatment plants, which are C&D waste treatment facilities whose objective is to select, classify and recover the different fractions contained in this waste.

These plants have a multitude of equipment, very similar to that used on-site. Nowadays, off-site crushing and screening tasks are very often done with mobile equipment, since it offers more flexibility and saves space, compared to fixed plants, whereby the biggest machines used for on-site recycling are usually the smaller machines used for off-site treatment. While mobile crushing and screening units are more and more replacing fixed plants, most sorting and washing processes are still mainly carried out by stationary equipment.

However, it must be said that although the majority of the recycling tasks will be carried out off-site, some jobs on-site always need to be done. It is important to assess and prepare the deconstruction, for instance, remove windows, piping, etc. upfront. And sometimes the sorting will be done on-site.

The following equipment is usually available for sorting operations:

  • Inclined or horizontal vibrating product screens
  • Vibrating pre-screeners
  • Trommels
  • Magnetic separation machines

Then, for crushing or crushing operations, the most common equipment is as follows:

  • Impact crushers
  • Jaw crushers
  • Shredders
  • Roller crushers

Finally, the following equipment is used for pneumatic separation:

  • Pneumatic screen
  • Double-acting wind tunnel
  • Windsifters
  • Overbelt magnets
  • Sorting stations

In addition to the above equipment, whose purpose is sorting and recycling tasks, the fixed construction and demolition waste recycling plants will have other auxiliary equipment such as conveyor belts, weighing scales or reception cabins. However, it must be noted that this type of equipment is not exclusive to static plants, they are also possible to install in mobile recycling plants.
