Exciting news from the EDA Convention in Belgrade

From June 13th to June 15th, we held our highly anticipated Annual Convention in Belgrade, Serbia, where industry leaders and professionals gathered for a series of insightful sessions and discussions.

One of the standout highlights of the convention was the presentation of the winner of the European Circular Economy Awards 2024 and we had the opportunity to learn about three exceptional projects, each recognized as finalists in their respective countries for their innovation and dedication to advancing the demolition and recycling sectors.

Thijs Noordhoek, representing VERAS Sloopaannemers, showcased a groundbreaking project that underscored new standards in high-quality reuse of materials in the building sector. His presentation highlighted innovative techniques.

Ana Nadaždi, PhD, from the Serbian Demolition Association (SDA), presented a project that demonstrated exemplary approaches to circular economy-based model for assessing the sustainability of construction and demolition waste management. Her expertise and research are pivotal in setting benchmarks for industry best practices.

Raquel Arias, representing Association AEDED, shared insights into a project focusing on the efficient recovery of material resources contained in construction and demolition waste based on advanced hyperspectral vision techniques. Her presentation emphasized the importance of sustainability and resource efficiency in shaping future industry trends.

Each project represented a commendable commitment to innovation and sustainability in our field, resulting in Ana Nadaždi, PhD the winner of this year’s Awards. Congratulations Ana, and thank you for sharing you inspiring project in the EDA Annual Convention 2024!

 

The convention also featured engaging panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions, providing attendees with valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge and forge new partnerships.

As the convention drew to a close, participants left with renewed inspiration and a shared commitment to continuing advancements in demolition and recycling practices across Europe and beyond.
