EDA Think Tank 2025: how it went
28/10/2025

On October 15, Brussels became the meeting point for Europe’s demolition and construction professionals as the EDA Think Tank 2025 took place at the Warwick Grand-Place. The event brought together leading industry figures, policymakers, and experts to exchange ideas on how to advance circularity and sustainability within the built environment.
About the roundtables
The first session of the day explored the development of End-of-Waste (EoW) criteria for construction and demolition materials. Panelists, including Thomas Kasper (BRV), Kveta Kabatnikova (DG GROW), Kurt Van Stappen (TRACTEBEL), Dirk Fincke (Aggregates Europe), and Christophe Sykes (Construction Products Europe), discussed the importance of defining EoW standards, implementing resource audits, and closing material loops to align with EU strategic goals.
The second roundtable addressed the forthcoming European standard for pre-demolition and pre-redevelopment audits. Speakers such as Liesbet Van Cauwenberghe (Tracimat), Johan D’Hooghe (Recycling Assistance), and Martin Car (EQAR) shared insights on how harmonised audit processes can enhance efficiency, safety, and material recovery.
The Think Tank concluded with closing remarks from EDA President Patrick Frye, who highlighted the value of collaboration, innovation, and open dialogue in shaping the future of demolition and construction across Europe. Thank you all for your participation!
